Superman II is the 1980 sequel to Superman: The Movie. Richard Lester took over the refilming of the movie after the film's original director, Richard Donner was removed from the project despite, by his estimate, having filmed 75% of the movie. In 2006, Donner released Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut in which he restored several of the deleted scenes he'd originally filmed. A third film followed Superman II, Superman III.
